Indiana Jones and the Dark Island

Indiana Jones and the Dark Island was to be a fanfilm since it started as an idea in 2007, but the project was finally abandoned in 2011. Pity, because the whole pre-production was complete by then. The script on one hand, the materials and wardrobe on the other, everything was ready to start shooting the principal photography. Unfortunately, the project was dropped and all the material sold. Unbelievable, isn't it?

Ok. So what was this movie to be? What was the story about? I can tell you it was to be a long video-film, of about 90 minutes. The script was of 73 pages, and the action happened in 1942, going through a context of the immediate consequences of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) in Barcelona, and also the Pacific theater of operations (1941-1945) where a mysterious island was to be found. I'm sorry, but I can't share anything else in the script, nor the document itself, for the obvious reason that I wouldn't want the story stolen by any other fan-film makers. Anyway, the film was to be a present for George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and the whole cast and crew of the Indiana Jones movies, at the time also thanking them for delivering a fourth Indiana Jones movie (2008).

Well, that was it. The only thing left are a bunch of previews, all designed to give a view of everything on hand: costumes, objects, and above all, locations. Let's see...

I. The following two previews are a sort of simulation of what would then be the main titles. Here they're still a model, to be developed later on. I made them split, but the one comes right after the other. They're sort of a prelude and a start, respectively.

II. Next preview is about the costumes for the film.

III. The following previews are about locations.

IV. This one is a special piece of footage, an excerpt from the movie Battle of Britain (1969).

V. Finally, test excerpts from the scenes #7 & #36, the only footage that was actually shot, just before the project was definitely abandoned.

That's all about there is to show about our cancelled project of an Indy fanfilm. Thank you anyway!

Under Vintage Films, when we occasionally try practicing the art of film-making, we make movies which we pretend to be part of any particularly old-fashioned genre or style. They're movies intentionally pretended to appear old.
We hope you like them. Thanks anyway for watching.
